Prepare the accessory

Charge or power on the accessory and use its manufacturer-documented control to enter pairing mode. Google notes that several Bluetooth devices can be paired with Google TV, but only one Bluetooth audio device can be connected at a time. If another pair of headphones is already active, disconnect it before expecting a second audio device to play sound.

Pair the device through Google TV settings

  1. From the Google TV home screen, move to the profile picture or initial in the upper-right corner.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Open Remote and accessories.
  4. Choose Pair remote or accessory.
  5. Make sure the accessory remains in pairing mode or visible to nearby devices.
  6. Select the correct accessory name from the list.

Reconnect a device that was already paired

A previously paired device appears under Accessories and normally does not need to be paired from the beginning.

The same section also lets you rename or forget a saved accessory. Forgetting it removes the saved relationship; you will need to put the accessory back in pairing mode and repeat the pairing process before using it again.

If the accessory does not connect

Use the smallest checks first so that you can tell whether the problem follows the accessory or the television:

  1. Turn the Bluetooth accessory off and back on, then try pairing again.
  2. Disconnect paired devices that are not currently needed.
  3. Try another compatible Bluetooth accessory, if one is available.
  4. Disconnect the television's power for 10 seconds, reconnect it, and try again after it starts.
  5. Test whether the accessory can connect to another device such as a phone or tablet.

If the accessory cannot connect anywhere, check its software and manufacturer support. If other Bluetooth devices work with Google TV, the failed connection may be specific to that accessory rather than to the television.

Allow for model and accessory differences

Google TV is available on hardware from multiple manufacturers. Menu labels, supported Bluetooth profiles, and remote designs can differ. If the accessory is not listed or a documented option is missing, check the support pages for the exact television or streaming-device model instead of assuming that every Google TV product has identical hardware support.
